Dortha Buckland

Dortha Buckland, 90, died at 10:50 a.m. April 26, 2008, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.
She was born July 4, 1917, in Leipsic to Elah "Pete" and Margaret Pitney Buckland, who preceded her in death.
Miss Buckland retired as a secretary and bookkeeper in 1984, having worked at Medlock's Jewelers, Collingwood Motor Sales, Differential Steel and Neeley's Drug Store. She was a member of Salem Cass United Methodist Church, for more than 50 years. She had attended Powell Memorial United Methodist Church, where she made quilts. She was awarded the Ohio State Grange Order of Patrons of Husbandry Golden Sheaf Membership Award, for having served 50 years in the Allen Grange of Hancock County, where she became a member in 1931. She was also a member of the Pomona, State and National granges. She had been a member of the American Business Women of America Organization. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada and doing crossword puzzles. She was a seamstress and sewed many fine and beautiful quilts for family, friends and others.
Survivors include a sister, Marjorie Morrow, of Arlington; a niece, Carolyn Buckland Stall, of McComb; a nephew, Glen (Carol) Buckland, of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lela; two brothers, Reuben (Faye Canfield) Buckland and Fred (Pauline Amos) Buckland.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay. Elder Tom Pitney will officiate. Burial will be in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
