Ottawa Community Blood Drive

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

To the Editor,

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who helped at the Ottawa Community Blood Drive and the good donors who came to the drive at the Ottawa VFW on May 7. We will be able to continue to aid those who need blood products.

We'd like to recognize these gallon donors: Gerell Spence and Dean Schroeder, 1 gallon; Kim Ansley, Sandra Horstman, Stuart Teders and Jenny vonder Embse, 2 gallons; Sharon Ellerbrock, 3 gallons; Keith Buist, Ian Clark and Ken Duling, 4 gallons; Jim Meyerhoffer, 6 gallons; Stanley Kuhlman, 8 gallons; and Bonnie Schnipke, 9 gallons.

We would also like to acknowledge Jane Kuhlman for her many years of dedicated work at Ottawa blood drives. As she retires, we will certainly miss her delicious desserts and sandwiches. Jane always made sure there are plenty of homemade cookies for all our special blood donors, volunteers and the Red Cross staff.

Marilyn Burkhart and Judy Ruen

Reader Comments
From the editor: Many of you have expressed concerns about some of the harsh anonymous comments from readers. To remedy that, we are introducing new features. You can create your own blog, publish your news and share your photos with the community. Once you fill out a simple form and leave a verifiable e-mail address, you can set up your profile page. It will display all of your contributions and allow you to track issues and easily connect with others.

We want our site to be a place where people discuss and debate ideas that foster stronger communities. We built this for you. Please take care of it. Tolerate broad thinking, but take action against obscene or hateful material. Make it a credible and safe place worth preserving and sharing.
