Vote Yes on Issue 27
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Letter to the editor
Please vote YES on Issue 27. On November 4, the voters of Putnam County will once again go to the polls to exercise their right to vote. Issue 27 is very important health levy that deserves our support. It is not an exaggeration to say the health of communities is at stake.
Funds generated by Issue 27 will continue to support our Putnam County General Health District, which provides services throughout the county. They do such a good job preventing disease and keeping our environment clean. It seems wee don't hear about efforts to maintain public health unless something bad happens.
One example is clean restaurants. When we go out to eat, we often take cleanliness and food safety for granted. The Health District inspects restaurants, groceries and schools. They also check the water we drink. These are important services that benefit each of us.
Then there's the Health District's emphasis n prevention. Preventing disease is safer and cheaper than treating disease after it strikes someone. The Health District t prevents by protecting our food, air and water, by immunizing people against diseases like the flu and polio, and by providing tuberculosis and communicable disease control.
Issue 27 will support these and other necessary health services. I am proud to support the efforts to insure quality health care for our communities. I sincerely hope that you will do the same. The ¼ mill renewal would cost a homeowner $8.75 a year on a $100,000 home-that's less than 73 cents a month.
Please remember, the General Health District-and vote Yes on Issue 27. It's the best health insurance you can buy! Thanks for your time!
