Ready for the fair
Comments 0 | Recommend 0I'm ready for the Putnam County Fair
I have a sun visor that extends out at least ten inches, or so it seems.
I have powerful sunscreen, light weight shirts and good walking shoes.
Of course I'll need money for food and games, a camera to take pictures, and a note pad to take notes.
I have to admit it. I love the Putnam County Fair. If that makes me too "country' to some people's liking so be it.
I grew up in a small town that had a Farmer's Merchant's Picnic in addition to the county fair. It was something my family looked forward to all year. My mom would pack a picnic lunch. My brothers would exhibit their 4-H rabbits and I would take up the flowers I had grown myself.
Once we arrived at the park where the "Picnic" was held I would look up my friends and disappear until lunch time. Then I would join my family and other relatives to enjoy the home-cooked food. After lunch the swimming pool offered free swimming, so that was next on the agenda.
The Putnam County Fair reminds me of those days. I may not have home-cooked meals but a corn dog is a good substitute. I also get the opportunity to "hang-out" with friends and "shoot the breeze." as I look at exhibits and enjoy shows.
So I hope to see you at the Putnam County Fair.
