Jerwers, Schroeder win commissioner primaries in Putnam
Comments 0 | Recommend 0OTTAWA — Travis Jerwers and Vince Schroeder were chosen as the Republican commissioner candidates during Tuesday’s election in Putnam County.Jerwers received 3,063 votes, defeating Ron Leopold, for the Republican nomination for the Jan 2 commissioner term. Jerwers will face Democratic candidate Robert Riepenhoff in the November election. Riepenhoff ran unopposed in the primary.In a three-way race for the Jan 3 commissioner term, Schroeder received 2,127 votes defeating Dan Ellerbrock and Joe Recker. Ellerbrock received 1,817 votes and Recker received 1,734.Schroeder will be unopposed in the November election.“I plan to go on to the next election to fight for common sense and for the little guy,” Jerwers said. “I am looking forward to the campaign and meeting the people.”“I really appreciate the confidence and trust in me and I’ll work hard and serve with honesty and do whatever I can to help our county go forward,” Schroeder said.
