Free tax service offered for senior citizens

OTTAWA - Throughout the months of February and March at the Ottawa Senior Center, AARP will offer senior citizens free income tax preparation. This service is available by appointment only beginning Friday, February 3, and continuing through Saturday, March 31. Appointments will run on Fridays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. You must call the Senior Center at 419-523-5593 in advance for an appointment. Walk-ins will not be accepted, and April appointments will not be available. The appointments fill up quickly, so call soon to schedule a time convenient for you.
 As in the past, volunteers staffing this service have received training through AARP. The information you provide for the preparation of your tax return will be filed electronically, and you will be scheduled to return to the center approximately one week following your appointment to receive a copy of your forms for your records.
