Lima Senior sweeps Sandusky Spartans advance to district tournament

    MANSFIELD — Lima Senior’s volleyball team had no problem taking out Sandusky, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22, in a Division I sectional championship game Saturday at Mansfield Senior.
    The Spartans (18-5) will play Marion Harding at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Liberty-Benton in the district semifinal round.
    Shamir Thompson had 3 aces and 7 blocks for Lima Senior, Briana Butler had 13 assists, Aja Goare had 12 kills and Alyssa Schimmoeller had 14 digs.

    LIMA SENIOR — The Titans won 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 24-25, 16-14 to win a nail
biter and advance to the district semifinal round at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty-Benton. Melissa Verhoff had 13 kills and 23 digs for O-G (17-7) while Hannah Kaufman had 21 digs and 10 kills. Jill Recker added 8 blocks.
Celina 3, St. Marys 0
    LIMA SENIOR — Celina raised its record to 19-5 to advance to the Liberty-Benton district at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Celina won 25-23, 25-13, 25-22.

Perry 3, Allen East 0

    LaFAYETTE — Christi Walker had 12 kills and 19 digs as Perry eliminated Allen East 25-21, 25-20, 25-22. Perry will take on Kalida at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lima Senior. Teysha Upshaw had 10 kills, Megan Patton had 29 assists and Chelsea Kuck had 7 kills and 16 digs for Perry.

    PANDORA — Julia Fuerst’s 6 kills and 3 aces helped Kalida beat Temple Christian 25-17, 25-8, 25-10. Haley McIntyre had 4 kills, Emily Turnwald had 5 kills, 10 assists and 6 aces and Halie Zenz had 10 assists and 5 aces.

Miller City 0

    MILLER CITY — Columbus Grove cruised into the district tournament with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 victory over Miller City. Grove (21-2) will play in the district semifinal at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Kalida.
    Mackenzie Vorst had 16 digs and 9 kills for Grove, Jena Diller had 12 kills and Paige Gerdamen had 31 assists. Dana Otto had 5 kills and 1 block for Miller City (5-19), Ali Lammers had 7 digs and Courtney Niese had 3 aces and 4 kills.

Bluffton 0

    PANDORA — The Hornets claimed a 25-17, 25-20, 25-18 victory over Bluffton to move into districts. C-R (16-8) will play top-seeded Waynesfield-Goshen at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Lima Senior. Audrey Inniger had 17 assists for the Hornets, Ashley Flanigan had 10 kills
and 3 blocks and Kayla Rossman had 17 digs.

    LaFAYETTE — The Tigers rolled past Ada 25-18, 25-22, 25-19 and into the district semifinal round. No other stats were reported.
Marion Local 3
New Knoxville 0

    NEW BREMEN — Marion Local raised its record to 23-0 en route to the sectional final win 25-20, 25-10, 25-11. The Flyers will play Ottoville at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at Coldwater.
Shelby Moeller had 17 assists for Marion Local, Stacey Huber had 20 assists and 5 aces, Alyssa Winner had 13 kills, Alyse Bergman added 12 digs and Kaylee Schaefer had 6 kills.
St. Henry 3, Minster 2
    NEW BREMEN — St. Henry edged Minster 18-25, 21-25, 29-27, 25-19, 15-12. The Redskins will play
Delphos Jefferson at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at Coldwater.

    FINDLAY — Katie Stahl scored a goal and had an assist as the Bulldogs scored twice in the second half. Celina will play top-seeded Findlay at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the district semifinal. Mackenzi Rutschilling scored for Celina and Emily Pottkotter had an assist. Ashley Brachok had 3 saves for Shawnee.

Elida 3, Riverdale 0

    BATH TOWNSHIP — Toni Manley scored twice and second-seeded Elida moves on to play in the district semifinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The Bulldogs (11-7) will play St. Marys at Bath.
    Shelby Troyer had a goal and an assist for Elida while
Lindsey Peters and Amy Koester also had an assist. Kaitlyn Morrisey had 2 saves.
St. Marys 3, Bath 0
    BATH TOWNSHIP — Top-seeded St. Marys scored three goals in the second half to advance into the districts. Kaysha Dietz scored twice for the Roughriders and Macy Davis-Ferrall added a goal. St. Marys outshot Bath 20-12. Ali Best had 8 saves for Bath.

    DEFIANCE — Napoleon outshot Bath 17-9 in the victory. Brad Brock had 9 saves for the Wildcats (7-10-1).

Pandora-Gilboa 0

    BLUFFTON — Pandora-Gilboa (2-13) gave up two first half goals in the loss. Zach Oakes had 16 saves for the Rockets.
