Service honors veterans
Comments 0 | Recommend 0KALIDA - “They served our country well,” John Phillips said Wednesday pointing to a row of men sitting in the front row. Speaking during a special Veteran’s Day Service at The Meadows of Kalida, Phillips urged other members of the audience to thank the veterans for what they had done.
“If you haven’t done so yet, do so,” he said. “It makes them so happy.”
Phillips said only two of the eight veterans who had attended the 2008 service at The Meadows of Kalida were still alive. “It’s a reminder of how fast we are loosing our World War II veterans,” he said.
At the conclusion of the service Phillips and Clayton Maag folded the flag the way they do at military funerals. An explanation of what each fold means was given while the two men folded the flag.
