Smokers aren?t only polluters
Comments 0 | Recommend 0KARL D. SALISBURY, Columbus GroveWe hear and read about the “evils” of smoking, more than enough. But, our state sure loves the overtaxed windfall money coming in. So, ex-smokers suddenly live in torment now? Yet for all the years they puffed, they enjoyed eating out, and no doubt enjoyed cigarettes with their coffee. How many nonsmokers “suffered” back then? Did you care?Yes, the police should stop rounding up robbers, murderers, rapists and child molesters, and instead go after the real criminals: smokers! That makes sense. With righteous indignation, now healthy breathing folks think otherwise. If you’re around illegal smokers, solve your problem by staying home to eat, staying out of elite private clubs or evil bars.Just think, when you hop in your gas-guzzling, pollution-belching vehicles, you’re ruining someone’s breathing air. Will you stop driving and buy a horse? To help your clean air demands, why not stop all big trucks and shut down all plants to stop this horrible air polluting? But, when you tool around in your expensive SUV, would you want no food on supermarket shelves? No stuff to buy in stores, since trucks are banned? And, while you’re on your crusade, ban farming and tractors, since cows produce gas. John Deere’s got to go, indeed. All “war” should come to an end, too, since those tanks and military vehicles are killing our troops and the enemy with air pollution. How awful. When you sit at home, don’t breathe, eat or drink water because it’s all unhealthy. The negligent police will later find your mummified body eventually. At least you died “healthy.” Or, every time you have a slight medical problem, gulp handfuls of pills and forget the bad side-effect warnings. Do what the good doctors order and hospital stays will make your health utopia a reality in your perfect world.
