Kory Closson/Andrew Schmitz, 6-3, 6-4.   Records: St. Marys 10-3 (6-2); Ottawa-Glandorf 6-2 *************************   SOFTBALL:    Del. Jefferson 11 Ottoville 0 Delphos Jefferson moved their record to 6-7 with a 11-0 win over the Big Green of Ottoville (2-9).  Brooke Apple (2-3) pitched the one-hit shut out.  The Lady Wildcats’ attack was led by Tiffany Culp, who was 3-3 with a double and 5 RBI's. Shauna Bowers collected two hits with a double and teammate Jenna Miller recorded two hits with a triple and 3 RBI’s.  Courtnie Rostorfer added a triple and one RBI in two trips to the plate.Ottoville 000 00 – 0 1 4  Jefferson 305 3x – 11 10 1  WP– Brooke Apple (2-3) LP–Madica 2B– Culp (DJ), Bowers (DJ) 3B– Miller (DJ), Rostorfer (DJ) Records: Delphos Jefferson 6-7; Ottoville 2-9 -----   Wapakoneta 2 Van Wert 1  WAPAKONETA – The Lady Cougars traveled south to face WBL league-foe, the Wapak Lady Redskins and were defeated in a pitchers duel by a score of 2-1.With the loss, the Cougars dropped to an overall record of 11-7 and their league record falls to 2-5. Christy Steinke collected a base-on-balls to start off the bottom of the second inning. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Sandra Springer, and then went to third on a wild pitch. From there, she scored on a sacrifice fly to center-field by Jordan Sawmiller for an early 1-0 lead. Van Wert struck back in the top of the fourth when Brittany Bolenbaugh hit a one out single. She then stole second base and when the throw went into right-center field, she went to third base. Alexa Jent ripped the two-out single to score Bolenbaugh and collect the RBI to tie game. In the bottom of the sixth, Jordan Bodell started the game-deciding inning off with a one-out single, and then Steinke followed with a single of her own. After a Cougar error, the bases were loaded, still with one out. Sawmiller hit into a fielders-choice in which Bodell was forced out at the plate for the second out. Amy Copeland then came to the plate and worked for a base-on-balls to force in the tie- breaking run before the inning ended. The Cougars had one last gasp of air in the top of the seventh. Madison Kohn hit a two-out double and then Ashley Harshman reached on an error. Both runners moved up to second and third bases via a wild pitch. Unfortunately for the VW-faithful, that was as far as they would get as the inning ended on a fly ball to right-field. Morgan Williams started on the hill for Van Wert, going the distance and giving up both runs, unearned. She surrendered four hits and walked two while striking out three batters and hitting one. Offensively for the Lady Cougars, Bolenbaugh went two for three with a triple and the run scored. Kohn was one for two, while Jent went one for three with the RBI. The next came for the Lady Cougs will be Thursday when the Big Green from Ottoville come to Jubilee Park for a 5:00 p.m. start.
